Now this post may be a little long and I seldom ever give a personal opinion of mine that isn’t on my personal blog but because this is another iconic event (for me, at least) and that I’m very proud of the event…I wanted to make a “graphic” and provide a brief overview on my thoughts regarding Barack Obama.
I didn’t really pay attention to politics until high school, and before Obama/McCain, I only knew George W. Bush and Clinton before he left office. Obama has been president throughout my four years of high school and he will be president, now, when I graduate which makes me glad. He will be president during most (or some) of my college years. He has been there for that long, and he’s a pretty cool guy.
Even though people have their differences, you’ve got to admit…he has personality and humor. Look at him with the Pacman eating the Apple symbol, hell he’s even skateboarded toward whoever it was he was greeting, he went out to get a burger because he felt like it, he kicked a door open (that was pretty cool), and he showed a blooper reel from the Lion King movie to Congress as proof of his birth (if I remember correctly). He is for gay marriage and he is pro-choice. He is for the middle class.
I was raised to vote for people that are for, or say they are, my beliefs, standards, morals, and values. Obama is one of those politicians, and even though I can’t vote for him (so close), I honestly would have if I could have!
I am proud that I got to be apart of this, that I could experience it at such a young age back in 2008. I don’t want to forget this, ever, because it makes me immensely proud. I’m glad the electoral college was put in place for these reasons, I’m glad that allowed him to win the 2012 president elect.
And I want to end this by saying thank you. Thank you so much, Mr. President, for all that you have done in your first term and will do in your second term.
