Step 2:

On a turntable ice your half ball shaped cake with some white fondant and smooth over. This layer of fondant covering is there to help make your end snowman lovely and smooth! Once iced transfer over onto your decorated cake board. Make sure that you place your cake off center unless you have a much larger board as you’ll need space for your snowman’s melted snow!

Step 3:

Roll out some more white fondant making sure that you check the circumference and depth so that you have a flat circle of fondant that extends further than the domed cake. Once rolled take a small sharp knife and cut wobbly lines around the edge to replicate cartoon-like melted snow. Take your fondant and ice over your cake and board.

Step 4:

Now it’s time to start making all the different fun facial features for your snowman! Create a carrot nose with some orange fondant moulded into a conical shape and veined horizontally with either a veining tool or a cocktail stick. Make eyes and a mouth from black fondant rolled or formed into balls. For the melted droplets form white fondant into tapered tear shapes.

Step 5:

Now you can begin adding your snowman’s facial features. Attach the carrot nose using a cocktail stick or broken stick of spaghetti and some edible glue. Affix the eyes and mouth by indenting groves into the fondant with a ball tool and a dab or edible glue.

Step 6:

For the hat take some colored fondant and roll into a half circle shape that is the same length as the snowman’s head. With a little edible glue attach to the top half of the snowman’s head.

Step 7:

Take two contrasting pieces of fondant and roll into ropes that are then carefully twisted together. Lay this across the edge of the fondant hat and affix with edible glue.
