From a young age, black men are built into the mindset to think that their feelings aren’t important. That they have to be these “hard, emotionless, tough” human beings. That they can’t have feelings. That they can’t express when they’re hurting. And when they do, they aren’t taken seriously and is told to suck it up.
Stop ignoring young black men pain. Black boys and girls can experience depression. Black boys and girls can have mental illnesses. Stop teaching them that expressing their feelings is considered “weak” or “invalid” and help them. Everyone has a breaking point.
And if any of y’all need any help, I’m here for y’all. 💖
